New passport, new address: updating exchange verification details without losing access
Many Ukrainians have moved city or country in recent years, and many have renewed passports or switched to different identity documents. Exchange accounts, however, still hold the details from the original verification. Mismatches can surface at awkward moments, such as a large withdrawal or a periodic review. Updating proactively is usually smoother than waiting for a request. This guide explains where to find the update option on Binance, OKX, Bybit and Bitget and how to prepare documents so the review passes.
Check what the exchange currently holds
Open the identification or verification section from the profile menu. It shows your verification level and often the document type and country on file. Compare this with your current situation. If the document has expired or your country of residence has changed, an update is likely needed. Some exchanges send reminders before a document expires; others simply restrict features when it does.
Prepare documents for the update
Have the new identity document ready and, if address verification is required, a recent statement or official letter in your name showing the new address. Make sure the name spelling matches across documents, including transliteration from Cyrillic. Where transliteration differs between documents, keep proof of both forms ready, such as an older passport or an official certificate, in case support asks.
Submit through the in-app flow
Look for an option to update information or re-verify in the identification section. The process typically repeats the document photo and face check. Take photos in even light with all corners visible. Changing country of residence may affect which services and features remain available, so read any notice shown before confirming, and do not select a country where you do not actually live.
Follow up and keep records
After submission, the status usually shows as under review. If it is rejected, read the reason and correct just that item. Keep copies of what you submitted and the dates. If you hit repeated problems, contact support from the help centre inside the app, explaining the change briefly and attaching nothing outside the secure upload flow.
Risk boundary: Ukraine Crypto Guide
Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
Scenario checkpoint
- Compare the document and country shown in the verification section with your current situation.
- Prepare proof of both name spellings if transliteration differs between your documents.
- Read any service notice shown before confirming a change of country of residence.
- Keep dated copies of everything submitted and use only the secure in-app upload flow.
