Recognising fake crypto donation appeals and wallet scams aimed at Ukrainian users

Guides · 2026-10-07

Crypto donations have played a visible role in Ukraine, and that visibility has attracted scammers. Fake fundraising pages copy the look of real organisations, impersonated volunteers send wallet addresses in private messages, and urgent appeals circulate in Telegram channels with addresses that belong to fraudsters. Funds sent to the wrong address cannot be recalled. Users sending from Binance, OKX, Bybit or Bitget need to check the recipient as carefully as they would for any large payment. This guide explains how to verify an appeal, confirm an address through official channels, and protect your own account while doing so.

Verify the organisation first

Before sending, confirm that the organisation exists and publishes its crypto addresses on its own official website or verified accounts. Reach those sources by typing the address yourself rather than following a link in the appeal. Be cautious with new channels, private messages and accounts that copy a known name with a slight difference.

Confirm the address in two places

Compare the address in the appeal with the one on the organisation's official site, character by character at the start and end. If an address is only available in a message or image, treat it as unverified. Also check the network the organisation accepts, because sending on the wrong network can make funds unrecoverable.

Watch for pressure and payment tricks

Genuine appeals rarely demand that you send within minutes or ask you to share your exchange login, verification codes or recovery phrase. Requests to pay through a link that asks you to connect a wallet or approve a transaction are a red flag. Stop and verify whenever an appeal pushes urgency over clarity.

Protect your own account

Keep your exchange account secured with a strong second factor, an anti-phishing code and a withdrawal whitelist. Add a verified donation address to the whitelist before sending, and send a small test first if the amount is significant. Record the transaction identifier so you can confirm receipt with the organisation if needed.

Risk boundary: Ukraine Crypto Guide

Digital assets are volatile and derivatives can amplify losses. This website has no login, wallet connection, deposit form or customer-support chat. A referral link only records attribution; it does not guarantee access, pricing, rewards, approval or investment results. Availability can differ by residence, legal entity and product, so no regional access is assumed from language or branding alone.
